Like giant, walking Oreos. . .

To Be or Not to Be. . .

“To be, or not to be. That is the question”. This famous line begins Hamlet’s soliloquy on his internal struggle with life and death. With today being both the celebration of Shakespeare’s birthday (1564) and the anniversary of his death (1616), this line takes on an extra bit of meaning and spookiness. It seems all too poetic and ironic that Shakespeare, master of the tragedy, would pass away on his birthday.

Please enjoy this brief excerpt (which also happens to be the entirety) of a play we have written imagining what his final birthday was like. You may notice a general disregard for iambic pentameter and a slight lack of Shakespeare’s trademark wit and character development.

Act I. Scene I.

(Enter John Fletcher, carrying a birthday cake with candles aflame)

Fletcher: Hey, Bill! Happy Birthday!

Shakespeare: More like Deathday!

(Shakespeare dies)

Hey Bulldogs

Bulldogs are beautiful. . . on the inside. And to bulldog owners, on the outside too. Tomorrow is Bulldogs are Beautiful Day, so we would like to pay homage to our saggy-skinned, frowny-faced canine friends with a sampling of our favorite Bulldog images. Side note: While bulldogs have a lazy and depressed demeanor, they are secretly full of life and happy as can be. In fact, it is quite possible that the song, “Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows” is playing in their head constantly.
