We were all kids once with heads full of ideas, but sometimes those flashes of “brilliance” we once had are forgotten or quieted by the logic of our adult brains. This is mostly a good thing, like when you got old enough to realize that riding a laundry basket down the stairs like a sled was only going to end poorly. It’s really just learning and maturing. But eventually, it all comes back around and, as adults, we can learn a few things from kids. These are just a few things we’ve relearned thanks to kids:

  • The best method for solving a problem is usually the simplest.
  • Cheese can be a meal, shredded or in slice form.
  • New crayons and a coloring book are pretty awesome.
  • Just because someone can say a word doesn’t mean they know what it means.
  • Showering everyday isn’t really necessary. . . as long as you don’t mind carry a mild funk around with you.
  • On occasion, people say exactly what they mean.  Like when a kid says, “My cat’s breath smells like cat food.” He is not saying that he doesn’t like the cat or trying to make some sort of socioeconomic comment about America and its relationship with cats.
  • Go home when the streetlights come on.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask “Why?”. Repeatedly. Even when the answer is “Because”.
  • Crying over spilled milk doesn’t go away. It just gets internalized.
  • Being an adult actually is kinda cool.
