Keywording Tips for Stock Photographers, Part 6: Think Outside the Box

Posted on 12. Aug, 2010 by in Interesting News, Keywording Tips, Recent Posts, Stock Photography News

The Glow Images Blog has been on a roll lately with posts about conceptual stock images.  Let’s look at that subject from a slightly different perspective: keywording.

Photographers know what concepts they’re trying to convey in their stock images, but sometimes it’s not so easy to find those great conceptual images through a search engine.  You can help your potential customers out by putting some great conceptual terms in the keyword lists of your stock images.

Are your stock photos bizarre, trendy, provocative, cute, or mysterious?  Do they illustrate teamwork, connectivity, adventure, determination, or innocence?

Some of the most popular conceptual keywords for stock photography buyers are business, love, education, and eco-friendly.  Synonyms of these terms are also common search terms (check out last week’s Keywording Tips Blog for more about how synonyms can help your keywording).

Use keyword lists to tell stock photography buyers what concepts your stock images represent.  After all, they can’t read your mind!
